We have rescued these three cats from Chiangrai.

Written by admin. Posted in Information news

We have rescued these three cats from Chiangrai. Beer and Klang were pregnant but because of the birth control injection, the kittens had died in the womb and needs to have an operation. Beer is also disable as she can not use her two back legs and has to drag herself around. Tan had cancer at her breast and already had an operation to remove the cancer. We knew that if we did not take these pregnant cats to the hospital, they will die from miscarriage. The owner asked us to take care of these cats as he did not know how to look after them after an operation. So we have decided to take them back to Chiangmai. Now they are doing well and getting better. The cost for the operations are 5700 baht and we need you help for medical bills. Please help by donating through our website: www.santisookdogsandcats.org.

Update Mona’s condition

Written by admin. Posted in Information news

We went to visit Mona today, her condition is not good. She is very weak as she did not eat anything and the VET has to feed her food, water and dripping. Now she is blind in 2 eyes as the result of the serious blood parasite and infection. She also can not control herself, she kept walking round and round in the cage. The VET said as the disease is now getting into her brain, she has lost her control nerve. If we put her to lie down, she just lied still and can not move. Even she has survived, her brain has been damaged already. Her condition is still in danger and can not have chemotherapy at the moment until she gets stronger. The VET said her chance to survive is 50:50, she will have a test for liver and distemper today and we should know the result tomorrow. We will update her condition every 2-3 days. On behalf of Santisook, we would like to thank you everybody for helping Mona’s treatment especially Khun Lek and Khun Julian for sponsoring the cost of Mona’s treatment. We hope Mona can pull herself through this difficult time.

Mona, another survivor

Written by admin. Posted in Information news

Mona lived in the temple and used to have an owner but the owner died sometimes ago. Since then she was survived by searching for food in the temple nearby. One day when we parked the car in front of the temple, she walked and collapsed in front of our car. When we checked with the monk she also has 2 survived puppies in her care. She has the worst TVT we have seen as the tumor is quite big and inflected. Also her body is full of tick and flea. We have decided to take her and the puppies to our shelter. Her chance is survivor on the street is very slim. Now we took her to check her health and will start to have chemotherapy to treat her TVT which will be at least 4 injections and see how the condition can be improved. Her treatment will cost about 4000 Baht and we would like to ask for donation for her treatment. Please help Mona by donating through our website: www.santisookdogsandcats.org.

Tao from past to present

Written by admin. Posted in Information news

We rescued Tao from the side of the street in Amphor Suthep, Chiangmai. He had an owner but the owner was very negligent and left him for starving. He also had a very serious mange problem. We asked the owner to take him in our care and he had agreed. He was treated with special shampoo and Ivermec injection. Since we had fed him with rice and meat, he had gained weight and looks healthy. Within almost 3 months of treatment, his skin condition is tremendous improvement. His hair had grown back and he looked very handsome. Now he can not walk properly because of his old age and loosing some of his hair. He is enjoying the rest of his time in our shelter with other senior dogs. Recently he had a serious cough but now his health is back to normal. As someone said “Saving one dog won’t change the world but it will change the world of that dog”
